When you first start your spiritual business your main concern is how to get people to know you even exist. Once your business is established, you then worry about how to keep the customers coming in. The strategy is always the same whether you are just starting or have an existing business.
As a spiritual business owner, a big part of your job is to make it easy for a potential customer to get to know more about you and build a relationship with you first. Once you get their attention, you’re not done yet; he or she will want to know what you do and why you do it before they decide to become a customer. Boosting your spiritual businesses is all about attracting and then resonating with people. You “attract” to getting someone’s attention, and then if you “resonate” with him or her they’ll become a customer. The first two key steps of marketing your spiritual business are: Attract and Resonate.
If you’re concerned about the ‘selling’ part of marketing and getting customers, don’t be worried because people who want to come to your business are actually looking for you. This is where attraction comes in; you are giving people a chance to know that you are available to help them solve a problem they were looking for help with. Getting them to be comfortable with you is merely starting a conversation with them because that is how we get to know each other and learn about what we do. It is very similar to making new friends. You often start as an acquaintance and through that initial “get to know you conversation” you find that you both have things in common and that you are interested in similar things. If you both ‘click’ and like each other, that is resonance!
Attract
The quickest, easiest and most affordable way to attract people is to reach them through technology. Everyone is connected on the Internet, so much so that it’s become universal that smartphones and tablets are always either in someone’s hand or nearby. Social media, email and the Internet are the primary ways people now gather information. Your presence there is the best way to attract your potential customers. Advertising used to be only for the large companies that could afford to pay for it. Print and television ads were massively expensive. Now, instead of thousands of dollars, you can spend ten dollars here or there with social media advertising and reach hundreds of people. Instead of purchasing billboard space you can now create a website for free. Don’t be afraid to use advertising on the Internet to attract customers who are seeking you out. Here are some of the most effective and inexpensive ways you can boost your spiritual business through attraction.
All businesses, no matter how big or small, need a website. In the past, people would discover a business in the Yellow Pages or perhaps see an advertisement in the newspaper. To find out more about a company or business they would call the phone number hoping to reach someone. Today, people would rather go to a business website for more information before reaching for the phone. A website is always available, anytime, any day. Usually, all of the initial information you want to know about a business is on its website. In fact, if you have a business, people will ask you for your website address first so they can get more information later. Having a website is almost easier than having a brochure or even a fancy business card. You can put much more on a website than you can on an 8” x 11” piece of paper or a tiny business card. Now, some younger business entrepreneurs only put their name and their website on their business cards!
A website also gives you instant credibility. You will appear more professional and established. It is also easy to create a website, and with WordPress and many other services, you can create one for free!
Advertising through social media has become the prime medium even for large companies. For the small business owner, Facebook advertising is very affordable and extremely powerful. The best thing about online advertising is that you can target your advertising to specific groups of people. For example, if you want to reach only women between the ages of 35 and 65, who are interested in yoga, also like Pilates, and live in California you can set up your Facebook ads to only show up on the pages of people who fit that criteria. Generally, it is much more difficult do that with traditional mail advertising. You can spend just a few dollars a day in online marketing and still reach hundreds of people.
Resonate
After you attract someone you’ll want to develop your customer relationship by resonating with him or her. Building resonance starts with sharing information. As a business entrepreneur, this is your opportunity to share who you are, what you do and offer, and how customers can benefit from your services or products. We all want more of what we resonate with, whether it is a person, thing, or something we buy. If your potential customer resonates with you and your business they will take your relationship to the next step to buy from you.
The most important thing to be able to resonate by sharing information with your potential customer is to build a list of email addresses of people who are interested in finding out more about your business. The best way to gather email addresses is on your website’s homepage using a form that a visitor can fill out. Connecting with your prospective customers on a regular basis is key in Internet marketing and this usually happens through email. Internet marketers refer to email lists simply as your “List.” The power of your List is inherent in having an already select group of people who are very interested in hearing more from you. Your email list will grow and maintain your business, and it is also easy to set up.
First, you need a way to collect email addresses, store them and then be able to send out emails. You can use an email marketing service provider such as MailChimp or Constant Contact, and put their form directly on your website. This is known as an “opt-in” box, which is a form where someone can enter his or her name and email address. The best location for an ”opt-in” box to get people to sign up is right on the home page of your website.
You can give people an incentive to sign up for your list by offering to give them something for free in exchange for their email address. This gives people a taste of what you do or offer. For example, you can give a potential customer a free meditation or an e-doc that contains useful information. An e-doc is an electronic form of a written document, which can be a Word document or an Adobe Acrobat “PDF” file. If sending an e-doc is too technical for you, you can always just send an email with useful information in it. Let’s say you are an herbalist and sell herbal supplements. You can send potential customers information on which herbs are good for what situations. If you sign up for my newsletter on my website, you will get a free eBook on intuition. This free gift is the first part of beginning to resonate with your customer and starting your relationship.
These are two most powerful ways to boost your spiritual business by attracting people by getting their attention and then to share enough information about your business and yourself so they feel a connection and resonance to want to become a customer. By using technology you can reach more potential customers to attract and resonate with them to grow your spiritual business quickly and easily.
