The 4 Top Ways To Improve Intuition Exercises

Intuition exercises are the best way to practice your intuition skill. Like all skills, you need to learn a technique and then practice it. When you first learn simple techniques to get your intuition working, you may be tempted to start using your intuition right away on that pressing problem that you need an answer to right away. This is probably the worst thing you can do. You’ll find yourself frustrated and disappointed, because using your undeveloped intuition skill on a pressing, important need or desire often creates a bigger barrier for you. That barrier is either fear or anxiety. One myth about intuition is it only gives you information about extreme danger or serious situations. Intuition can be used on anything that you are thinking about. That means it can be for simple, easy, unimportant tasks, such as telling you exactly what time your subway train will pull into your station, or for the tougher things like getting information about a seriously ill loved one’s prognosis.

Anytime you are fearful or anxious you will block your intuition’s messages. You won’t hear them nor sense them. That being said, when you improve your skill in working with your intuition, you are able to do two important things: know when your intuition is ‘talking’ to you, and know how to trigger your intuition in such a way that, either your feelings stay neutral and don’t interfere, or block ‘hearing’ your intuition. Your intuition is always working for you, but you need to practice noticing what it’s saying. As Obi-Wan Kenobi said, “The force will never leave you.”  Just imagine using your intuition to make decisions or get insight on a situation with clarity and immediacy, and consistently receiving deep, accurate, intuitive insight on anything.

The phrase searched most often on Google about intuition is “intuition exercise.” Intuition exercises are the best way to get to know when your intuition is telling you something through practice. There are right ways and a wrong ways to practice, so here are four tips when doing intuition exercises to improve your intuitive thinking. Afterward, I’ll share with you how I use these tips myself.

4 Intuition Exercise Tips

Tip 1: Know that you can be intuitive, anytime, anywhere.

Your intuition is always available to you. It is like “the force” which you can always access, because it is at your command. Just remember, you can call on it to help you any time. You don’t need to be in any special state of mind, and you don’t need any preparation. You just trigger your intuition when you want it. (I explain how to trigger your intuition in some of my online videos and classes.) Also, your intuition gives you information all the time, you just need to notice it when it appears.

Tip 2: Practice intuition exercises frequently and practice with information you can validate.

A key part of any intuition exercise is being able to easily validate your “hits” so you know what you received was correct or not. For example, it would be good to practice using your intuition by predicting what color shirt your boss will wear tomorrow, because the results are easily validated. You’ll see your boss the next day and know whether your prediction was right or not. You cannot as easily validate predicting what your boss will have for dinner, unless, of course, you ask him or her. Although, you may find it awkward to ask your boss what they had for dinner.

Tip 3: Write down what you believe you are receiving during your intuition exercise.

Write everything and DON’T EDIT it. If you had an intuitive experience that came true, then write that down, and write it exactly how it came to you. If you are doing an intuition exercise, write down what you are receiving from your intuition during the exercise, even if you think you’re making it up. Many times, what you think is your imagination is actually real intuitive information that is correct.

Tips 4: Celebrate your hits.

When you get intuitive information that you found out is correct, celebrate! Say, “YES!” and fist pump, or hoot and say “Yay!” If you’re not one to make a big scene, then pat yourself on the back in your mind. It’s important that you recognize in a positive way, when you correctly received your intuitive messages. This reinforces your recognition of how intuitive information came to you and boosts your confidence.

Here is how I use all 4 tips myself, including #3, where I’m writing my experience down for you! The other day, when I arrived early for choir rehearsal, our music director had just come in and began setting up. She complained that she had misplaced her very expensive prescription glasses, bemoaning the fact that she had lost them a few days ago and couldn’t read very well without them. On her way to the piano, she put her three bags down. As I walked past her, I stared at one blue bag on the floor, and in my head flashed very quickly “her glasses are probably in a bag in a spot where she doesn’t expect it to be.” Even I sometimes forget that I can put my intuition to use for so many things. I realized hey I can use my intuition to find her glasses, so I sat down to ‘tune in’ to my intuition, but suddenly hesitated with doubt, thinking what if I tell her and I’m wrong? She might think I’m odd. I decided not to say anything and sat down. A minute or two later, she announced, “I FOUND THEM!” I realized maybe that flash was right! The next moment is important; I validated my flash by asking her, “Where did you find your glasses?” She said, “In my bag folded up in a binder, they must have slipped in there.” I got that right, yay! However, I wanted to validate more definitively, so I asked further, “Were they in your blue bag?” to which she said, “Yes!”

The good news is that the more you practice working with your intuition the better you’ll get at picking up intuitive information whether you are looking for it or not. To get there you’ll have to practice with intuition exercises you can do every day, any time and anywhere. The best way to practice is with a partner or other people who are as enthusiastic as you about learning about intuition.
